5 Easy Tricks to Stay Calm in a Stressful Situation ------------------------------------------------------------ Being able to keep level headed in a stressful situation is an incredibly powerful gift. This is what will allow you to best deal with the situation and it is what will help you to rise to a position of leadership within any given group. The only problem? We are biologically hardwired in a way that makes this very difficult! Our bodies react to stressful situations by releasing hormones and neurotransmitters designed to get our hearts racing and our blood pumping. This makes it very hard indeed for us to remain calm. Here are five things you can do to overcome that urge. Detach Yourself One great way to remain calm and to make sure you act sensibly, is to try and detach yourself from the situation. By this, I mean that you effectively remove your personal stake in the situation by asking not what you should do but what a person should do. Try to judge the situation objectively and in a removed manner. Breathe Breathing more deeply and more slowly will bring into action your rest and... Digest state through the parasympathetic nervous system and it will counteract some of the physiological changes going on in your body right now. Ask Yourself the Best Scenario Having a clear goal can often help you in a high-stress situation. Instead of ‘foundering’, first task yourself with asking what the best outcome you could achieve is. Then, take steps to help yourself get to that point. Accept Failure Another thing to do is to accept the possibility of failure and be okay with it. Be okay with being hurt, with making matters worse or with being shouted at. Very often in a stressful situation, we find ourselves so worried about potentially making matters worse or making ourselves responsible, that we end up frozen in indecision. Pick a Decision and Act on It So, with that in mind, the final thing to do is simply to take these matters into your own hands. That means acting on whatever it is you have decided to do and it means not spending any more time considering the possibilities. Our anxiety actually comes from picturing events and specifically, picturing the worst case scenarios. As far as our biology is concerned, this makes it as though those worst case scenarios were happening. So instead of thinking… just act!

This is the way I have found my mentors. Sometimes we don't even have formal agreement. They choose to mentor me. 4. ⁠Passion might not be enough, so do not be scared to work and earn some money to work on your passion or purpose. Perspective is key. 5. ⁠Sometimes to move forward you have to move backwards. I did this many times. 6. ⁠Don't call yourself what you are not. Build to earn that reputation. Compound interest truly works. 7. Join communities, sometime that's the way you get opportunities and support system 8. ⁠Take responsibility for your mistakes, life, and rejections. Don't expect anyone to tell you sorry when you need to get to work. 9. ⁠Focus on the process and build credence for your work. The only way you can know the merit of something is over time. 10. Be present. The opportunities of the future are in the present. Don't focus too much on the future that you lose both the present and the future. 11. ⁠Have a support system to talk things through when things are rough. Asking for help is an invitation but don't be a parasite. Be sensitive. 12. ⁠Be careful in staying in a job that doesn't add anything to you in the long term, it may affect how you perceive life even if it seems the pay is good. 13. ⁠Don't be shy about your background or story, it is what makes you you. 14. ⁠Give your best to a task or work. Even if you fail at it. You end up learning or building something for yourself 15. ⁠Learn to have uncomfortable or difficult conversations and do it respectfully. You will be respected for that. 16. ⁠Always leave the first and last impression. 17. Don't be scared to talk about your work. Sometimes no one will help you if you don't tell your story 19. Learn to give credit when it is due. Don't hold on too much to everything and treat your team as partners and colleagues. 20. To make money you have to spend money. 21. Someone you know, know somebody that you know. Be careful of how you treat people. People keep receipts. 22. Balance giving to the outside world, with giving to your family. Are you the same person on the inside as you are on the outside? 23. Smile, it helps you ease pressure and facilitate good relationships with others 24. Reflect on who you are.
